What's Included in a Standard House Cleaning in Edmonton?

By Sarah Mitchell, Operations Manager — Three North Clean·August 7, 2026·6 min read

Edmonton homeowners booking their first professional clean often aren't sure exactly what "standard cleaning" covers versus what counts as an upgrade. Here's the room-by-room breakdown.

---

Kitchen

Included in a standard clean: Counters wiped down, sink scrubbed, stovetop exterior cleaned, exterior of appliances (fridge, oven, dishwasher, microwave) wiped, table and chairs cleaned, floor vacuumed and mopped, trash emptied.

Deep clean add-ons: Inside the oven, inside the fridge, inside cabinets and drawers, behind and underneath appliances where accessible.

Bathrooms

Included in a standard clean: Toilet cleaned and sanitized inside and out, tub/shower scrubbed, sink and counter cleaned, mirror polished, floor vacuumed and mopped, trash emptied, fresh towels folded if provided.

Deep clean add-ons: Grout detailing, hard water scale removal on shower glass and fixtures (a common Edmonton request — see our hard water stain removal guide), inside cabinets.

Bedrooms

Included in a standard clean: Dusting all reachable surfaces, vacuuming carpets or mopping hard floors, making beds (fresh sheets if provided and requested), emptying trash, tidying visible clutter.

Deep clean add-ons: Under-bed cleaning if furniture needs moving, closet organization (not typically offered as a cleaning task at all — this is a separate organizing service).

Living Areas & Common Rooms

Included in a standard clean: Dusting furniture, shelves, and decor, vacuuming upholstery and carpets, mopping hard floors, glass and mirror polishing, straightening cushions and throws, emptying trash.

Deep clean add-ons: Baseboard detailing, light fixture and ceiling fan dusting, window sill detailing.

What's Never Included, Regardless of Package

Dishes and laundry, exterior window washing (a separate service — see window cleaning in Edmonton), moving heavy furniture without advance notice, mold remediation beyond surface bathroom mildew, and pest issues.

Standard Clean vs. Deep Clean — Which Do You Need?

If this is your first professional clean, or it's been more than a couple of months since the last one, start with a deep clean to establish a proper baseline — it's faster and cheaper to maintain a clean home with regular visits afterward than to repeatedly deep clean a home that's fallen behind. If you're already on a regular schedule, standard cleaning maintains that baseline at a lower cost per visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

A standard clean covers every room at a maintenance level: vacuuming and mopping floors, dusting reachable surfaces, full bathroom sanitizing, kitchen counters and exterior of appliances, emptying trash, and making beds if requested. It does not include inside ovens, inside fridges, inside cabinets, or baseboard detailing — those are deep clean add-ons.
